This type of harness was adopted in 1936 and will be supplied to troops (officers, paratroopers, cavalry, etc.). On the one hand, its function is to help maintain the load of the M-1936 belt as well as the carrying of the M-1936 bag . When issuing the Haversack M-1928, the M-1936 harness will not be included when distributing the material. It will appear on the American soldier from the year 1937. During the conflict, due to a shortage of raw materials, such as articulated buckles, it will undergo many modifications (Type I, II and III) in order to improve its design and thus reduce its manufacturing cost. Type I will be made of Olive Drab No. 3 (OD3 olive yellow) woven fabric, and the other two types will be made of Olive Drab No. 7 (OD7 olive dark green) fabric. With regard to the models resulting from the British manufacture (British Made), they will have the color OD N°3.
